Try the market-side version of a South of Fifth institution without a formal dining-room occasion.
The plan
Joe's Take Away grew from a back-door collection window in 1987 into its own casual market at 11 Washington Avenue. It is a different experience from the main restaurant: choose what you actually want to eat and keep the stop as small or substantial as your budget allows. This is not a claim that signature stone crab is inexpensive. Review the current menu and let the price of your chosen items determine the plan, rather than treating the famous name as a fixed-price bargain.
What to expect
The venue describes an eighty-seat market with a coffee bar, full bar and a private room for events. Ordinary takeaway and casual seating are the relevant options for this visit; private events and the main restaurant operate separately. Availability can affect what is offered.
Opening and nearby plans
Take Away is listed open every day, 11:30am–9pm. Its South of Fifth location makes a walk around the neighborhood or toward South Pointe a natural companion. Parking, drinks and additional dishes add to the total.
Before you go
Look at the Take Away menu, not the dining-room menu, and confirm the final price before choosing a seafood order.
