Step inside historic synagogue buildings and explore more than 250 years of Jewish life in Florida.
The plan
This is a good South of Fifth stop for anyone who enjoys the human stories behind a place. The Jewish Museum of Florida–FIU uses its historic synagogue setting to explore Jewish life in the state, with exhibitions that connect personal experiences to a wider Florida story. Let the buildings be part of the visit: this is architecture and community history together, rather than simply a room of displays. Check the current exhibitions before going, especially if you are planning a return visit.
Admission and opening days
Open Wednesday through Sunday, 10am–4pm; closed Monday and Tuesday. Adults pay $12, seniors $10 and students $5. Children six and under and members enter free. Saturday admission is free for everyone; holiday opening can differ.
Before you go
The museum is at 301 Washington Avenue. Nearby parking options include the private garage at 404 Washington and city lots at 139 Washington and 1 Ocean Drive; parking charges are separate. Contact the museum about access requirements.
Before you go
Build a South of Fifth afternoon around the museum and South Pointe Park, leaving enough time to enjoy both without rushing.
