A garden day with both walking and a narrated tram option, suitable for setting your own pace.
The plan
Fairchild is a daytime botanical visit built around tropical collections, garden paths and the Wings of the Tropics butterfly exhibit. The garden recommends at least three hours if you want to explore broadly. A narrated tram tour is included, offering a useful introduction before choosing areas to walk. You can buy food at the café or bring your own; evening events such as NightGarden have separate ticketing.
Allow a garden-sized visit
Fairchild recommends three hours or more to explore the entire garden. A free narrated tram is included and can help you choose where to walk afterward. The daytime visit includes tropical collections and Wings of the Tropics; classes and special evening events have their own booking arrangements.
Food, comfort and accessibility
The garden permits visitors to bring food, with the Glasshouse Café as a paid alternative. Bring water, sun protection and insect repellent. Benches provide places to rest along the route, and Fairchild describes the garden as accessible to visitors with disabilities. NightGarden is a separate evening ticket, not included in ordinary daytime admission.
Before you go
Bring water and insect repellent, and decide in advance whether this is your daytime garden ticket or a separately booked evening event.
